My name is Heather Plotzke. I am currently a PUSD School Board Trustee serving Area C. I was elected in November 2022 and am running for reelection in November 2026.

During my service on the Poway Unified School Board, I have remained focused on three commitments: striving to prepare students for life after graduation, providing world-class support to families and our employees, and protecting the district’s long-term fiscal health.

I am proud of PUSD’s tradition of academic excellence, but our work extends beyond test scores. Our goal for every student is to leave Poway with a diploma and a plan. With all students being general education students first, I have always supported rigorous instruction while advocating for special support services. I have also worked to strengthen trust between PUSD, families, and the community with welcoming schools, clear communication, and respectful treatment.

Finally, I remain committed to responsible oversight of public resources. Declining enrollment and fiscal pressures require long-range planning and thoughtful decisions that protect classrooms and student opportunities. We must continue improving efficiency while strategically addressing facilities, maintenance, technology, transportation, and staffing.

I am seeking re-election to build on this work, support every student, strengthen community trust, and ensure PUSD remains strong for generations to come.
